i haven't an idea of what goes through your mind
as i walk to the car with empty arms
and an even emptier stare
as we drive into the night
with nowhere to go
no where to be
and no one to see
it's just me and you
with a trunk full of thrift store clothes
and wrinkled sheets
we pitch a tent under the Californian sky
as we gaze on to the heavens
all through the night
coyotes howl and the world falls into sleep
as we try to mend this rift that has grown
so deep and wide
how could this happen
how could this be
where do we go from here
we use to be so close
i use to understand every thing that was you
now i haven't an idea of what goes through your mind
